(Beaver Dam) The Patriot Tour will return to Beaver Dam next month. Organizers with the Beaver Dam-based nonprofit Nation of Patriots announced the city will host a flag transfer ceremony September 9th through the 10th, with events planned for both days. The summer-long fundraiser for veterans sees multiple motorcycle riders carry one American flag, city-to-city, through all 50 states.
A representative of Beaver Dam will receive the flag on the 9th at 5pm. The public can attend the welcome ceremony at the Beaver Dam American Legion building. There will be food and drink, speakers, raffles, vendors, and a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting the Nation of Patriots as well as the Beaver Dam Legion.
Registration begins at 9am on September 10th for the escort leaving Beaver Dam which will head for House of Harley in Greenfield, where the flag will be transferred to a new flag bearer. There will be coffee and donuts and a brief ceremony prior to departure. Nation of Patriots Founder Bill Sherer says this effort demonstrates how Americans can work as one towards a common goal.
Nearly $1.5-million-dollars has been raised through this grassroots effort since the Nation of Patriots’ inception in 2009.
