(Beaver Dam) Organizers with the Nation of Patriots have finalized plans for their fundraising stop in Beaver Dam. The Patriot Tour raises money for veterans by taking one American flag through all 48 continental states via city-to-city motorcycle relay. The May 23 launch of the 110-day, 14,500-mile tour was reconfigured to a virtual format due to the coronavirus.
Despite the setback, the Patriot Tour has moved via video through 28 states and – after its launch from Erie, Pennsylvania this past Friday – it is continuing live through the remaining 20 states. The flag’s final destination is Scottsdale, Arizona on September 12.
The Patriot Tour returns to its home-city of Beaver Dam this Saturday (July 25th) and will be welcomed with a noon route through the city and a 1pm flag transfer at Ooga Brewing. Prior to the police escorted parade, riders from Milwaukee and Beaver Dam will meet at 6th Gear Bar at 11am.
The route will follow Highway 33 to 151 South, exit Highway D, travel north to Madison Street, then take Front Street east to South Spring and then right to Ooga Brewing. Riders and the community are encouraged to stay for a socially-distanced brew at Ooga.
Last year, the fundraiser for veterans eclipsed the $1-million-dollar mark in funds collected for veterans throughout their first ten years. Organizers with the Patriot Tour will be our guests this Wednesday on WBEV’s Community Comment.
