Pandemic Impacts Vehicle Sales

(Dodge County) Vehicle sales in Dodge County through the first half of 2020 continue to be impacted due to COVID-19. According to the Waterloo based, industry tracking firm Reg-Trak, there were 175 car sales through June in Dodge County compared to 288 through the first six months last year, a near 40-percent decrease. Truck sales experienced a nine-percent drop with 1,400 rolling off dealer lots in 2020. There were 1,545 trucks sold in 2019.

Columbia County car sales were down 32-percent through June with 124 sold compared to 184 in 2019. Auto dealers in Columbia County saw 99 fewer trucks sold in 2020 with 991, a decrease of nine-percent.

In Jefferson County, there were 147 cars sold compared to 268 in 2019, a 45-percent drop. Truck sales saw a decline of 20-percent, with 899 rolling off dealer lots compared to 1,127 last year.

For the nine-county, south-central Wisconsin region as a whole, vehicle sales were down just under 20-percent. Truck sales topped 15-thousand, a decrease of nearly 15-percent, car sales were down 37-percent with just over 3,000 sold.
