Oshkosh Man Charged With Robbing Beaver Dam Menards

(Beaver Dam) An Oshkosh man charged with robbing a Beaver Dam store made his initial appearance in court Wednesday. Donnie McKenzie is facing a felony count of Robbery with Threat of Force as well as a misdemeanor charge of Retail Theft. According to the Beaver Dam Police Department, a retail theft was reported just before 9am Tuesday at the Beaver Dam Menards. The suspect had allegedly taken two dehumidifiers and was confronted by store staff. An employee told investigators the suspect said to (quote) “stop following me unless you want to get shot.” The criminal complaint says the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle heading northbound on Highway 151 and was eventually apprehended by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. McKenzie was reportedly identified as the driver. When questioned, he allegedly said he needed money and heard that the stores in Beaver Dam were easy to steal from. If convicted, the 53-year-old faces over 15 years in prison. Cash bond was set at $1,500 and a judge will decide next month if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
