Oshkosh Man Charged In Fatal Fond Du Lac County Crash

(Fond du Lac) Cash bond has been set at $1-million-dollars for an Oshkosh man charged as a repeat drunk driver in a fatal crash in Fond du Lac County. Brian Sippel is facing multiple felonies including Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, and First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred on January 14th on Highway 151 near the Interstate 41 on ramp around 5:45pm. Life-saving efforts were attempted on the driver of one of the vehicle’s struck, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. When questioned, Sippel reportedly admitted to having one Bloody Mary on his way home from work.

A deputy allegedly noticed that the defendant’s speech was thick and slurred and his eyes were bloodshot. Prosecutors say Sippel is charged as a repeat drunk driver with prior convictions in 2004 and 2017.

If convicted, the 56-year-old faces up to 142-and-a-half years in prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for this Thursday.
