One Person Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash Near Emmet

(Emmet) One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on the State Highway 16 bypass near Second Street Road in the town of Emmet Wednesday afternoon. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office took multiple 911 calls at around 2:30pm of a head-on traffic accident close to the northern city limits of Watertown. The preliminary investigation shows that two vehicles, both occupied by one person with one travelling eastbound and the other travelling westbound, collided due to one of the cars operating left of the centerline. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says additional factors are being investigated. The driver of the westbound car was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the eastbound car was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The individuals involved are still being investigated and their names are being withheld for at least 24 hours. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Watertown Police Department, Watertown Fire and EMS, Lebanon EMS, DCERT and the Dodge County Sheriff Chaplain. A medical helicopter was requested but cancelled prior to first arrival.
