(Township of Waupun) One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 26 in the township of Waupun Sunday. The initial investigation indicates that a passenger car was traveling northbound on 26 around 5:45pm and crossed over the center of the road.
The vehicle then entered the southbound lane sideways and was struck by a southbound SUV. After the impact, both vehicles came to a rest in the west ditch of the highway. Fond du Lac County sheriff’s officials say the driver of the passenger car, identified was a 20-year-old woman from Appleton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the SUV, a 60-year-old Waupun woman, was treated at Waupun Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Authorities say speed and inattentive driving are contributing factors in the crash.
