Okauchee Man Given Probation For Role In Ashippun Gas Station Burglary

(Ashippun) An Okauchee man has been placed on probation for one-and-a-half-years for his role in burglarizing an Ashippun gas station. Blaise Bateman entered a no contest plea to a felony count of Burglary. Ethan Rau of Pewaukee is facing similar charges for his alleged part in the burglary.

A sheriff’s deputy was called to the business last December after an employee noticed a door pried open and two individuals in the utility room. They both ran once the alarms sounded. Two gas cans and a funnel were taken.

Video surveillance captured a vehicle with front-end damage and steam coming from the engine bay pull up to the gas station. Another vehicle pulled up and the two suspects began looking for fluid to fill the radiator in the damaged car. Video showed them force entry into the gas station.

Rau was reportedly identified from the footage and he named Bateman as his accomplice. The 31-year-old Bateman admitted to entering the business.

The 25-year-old Rau has further court activity on the calendar later this month.
