Oconomowoc Man Charged In Watertown Area Theft

4/6/17 – An Oconomowoc man is facing charges in Dodge County for a home invasion. Kalan Hayes is charged with felony Burglary of a Building or Dwelling and Bail Jumping along with misdemeanor Theft of Movable Property. On Monday, officers were dispatched to a residence in the Town of Lebanon following reports of two men wearing masks barging-in while the occupants were present. The duo left with prescriptions medications. According to the criminal complaint, Hayes’s girlfriend contacted police and said that Hayes told her that he and an accomplice committed the “perfect crime.” The 26-year-old reportedly told his girlfriend where the crime took place, said they wore masks and stole pills. The girlfriend also provided police with messages from Hayes that allegedly alluded to criminal activity. When interviewed by police, Hayes said he was with his mother on the day of the crime and mom initially supported the claim. But after a second phone call, she told authorities that Hayes might have been with her the day before the crime. Authorities are still looking for the second suspect. If convicted on all counts, Hayes faces over 19 years in prison. Cash bond was set at $10-thousand dollars yesterday and a judge will decide next week if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
