(Beaver Dam) The first major fundraiser for this September’s Good Karma Brands John Moser Children’s Radiothon is Thursday. Scott and Lori Smith of Beaver Dam established Noel’s Angel Walk 13 years ago in honor of their one-year-old daughter who passed away in March of 2008 from a respiratory virus.
“We used to walk with Noel and walking as a family is something we do,” Lori says, “it just makes you understand what life is all about, being together.”
Their son Nate, who has been at every Angel Walk with his first being in utero, has his own fundraiser going on: Nate’s Lemonade Stand.
“There are lemonade leaders who will [select] ten people – family, friends, etc – that they think are interested in donating to the Radiothon,” Nate told us Tuesday on WBEV’s Community Comment. A virtual lemonade toast will be held at our August 10 brat fry. All of their efforts have had quite an impact over the past 12 years with the Smith’s raising a total of $138,174.
Registration for Noel’s Angel Walk begins at 6:30am tomorrow with the walk departing Beaver Dam’s Waterworks Park at 7:30am.
