News – September 23, 2024

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School District recently received two donations to bolster its equipment and supplies throughout the district. One donation was from the Beaver Dam Walmart for office chairs, folding chairs, vacuums, and other office and school supplies. The other donation was from a parent of a student at Jefferson Elementary and their employer, Graber (grab-ur) Manufacturing out of Waunakee. The parent noticed that the school’s bike rack was full, so he reached out to Graber who donated two additional racks.  

(Beaver Dam) Decades of Dodge County’s history is available online for the first time. The Beaver Dam Community Library has partnered with Newspapers.com to digitize local newspaper archives, including the Daily Citizen and Beaver Dam Argus. Thousands of pages of local stories, events, and milestones have been preserved.

(Watertown) The city of Watertown has applied for funding through the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program to address deficiencies in its public drinking water system. The project will include lead service line replacement throughout the city. The DNR has determined that the project will not result in significant adverse environmental effects, though based on public comments received by the October 3rd deadline, the state may prepare an environmental analysis before proceeding with the funding process.

(Beaver Dam) Officials with Moraine Park Technical College are reporting significant improvements in overall enrollment trends this fall. To date, the College has seen an 11-percent increase in undergraduate credits enrolled and the highest year-to-date program student headcount in four years. Overall program headcount is up over 10-percent while dual enrollment is up roughly 20-percent. The College has several events this fall for prospective students including an open house at the Horicon Regional Center today (Monday, September 23rd) and Discover Moraine Park at the Beaver Dam campus on October 16th.

(Beaver Dam) Over $5,000 dollars was raised for a city of Beaver Dam family at the fourth annual Dodge County Sheriff’s Office versus Beaver Dam Police Department softball fundraiser Saturday afternoon. The police department took down the sheriff’s office 26-11 and will get to hold on to the trophy until next year’s game. Every dollar is going to a city of Beaver Dam employee who is working on beating cancer.
