(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam’s top administrative official has told alderpersons that his main reason for resigning is because of Mayor Becky Glewen. In an email, Director of Administration Zak Bloom says that (quote) “the working relationship with the mayor is untenable.” Administrative Committee Chair Jaci Shelton tells DailyDodge that preparations are being made for either her committee, or the full council, to have a closed session exit interview with Bloom prior to his November 5th departure. Bloom is Beaver Dam’s third Director of Administration since April 2019.

(Ashippun) An Oconomowoc woman guilty of injuring another motorist in Dodge County while under the influence was sentenced to 120 days in jail and was placed on parole for two years yesterday. Erin Jurich ran a stop sign in Ashippun in February of 2020 and collided with another vehicle. The 42-year-old admitted to drinking several alcoholic seltzer beverages’ earlier in the day. The victim suffered a fractured right ankle, a broken left forearm and three fractured ribs.

(Beaver Dam) Authorities have identified a motorcyclist killed after a crash in the Town of Beaver Dam on Sunday. Daniel Chase was found by a passerby near his bike on South Center Road around 5am. The 34-year-old failed to negotiate a curve near Jackson Road, entered the ditch and was thrown from the motorcycle. Chase was not wearing a helmet, and excessive speed and alcohol impairment are possible factors. Chase was pronounced dead at the scene, but the crash likely occurred as much as two hours earlier. – Kill after 10:30am.

(Calumet) An ATV operator was seriously injured after overturning in the Town of Calumet yesterday (Tuesday) morning. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a field near Saint Paul Road around 9:30am. The investigation indicates that a Chilton man was traveling west in the field when he looked over his shoulder as his ATV drove over a line that was pumping fertilizer. The 51-year-old lost control of the ATV, rolled over, and was ejected. He was transported by helicopter to the hospital in Neenah. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet.

(Beaver Dam) There is a new face on the city of Beaver Dam’s Police and Fire Commission. The Beaver Dam Common Council Monday night approved Maria Idalia Lopez to replace Jeff Davis on the five-person commission. The term runs through May 1 of 2026.

(Beaver Dam) Non-profit organizations in the area have until Friday to apply for the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation’s fall grant cycle. Non-profits located in Dodge County can submit grant applications for up to $2,500. Projects should be practical, set into action within a near timeframe and have prospects for long-term sustainability. More information is available at DailyDodge.com.

(Wisconsin) Afghan refugees living at Fort McCoy say things have gotten better, but there are still problems. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel quotes one refugee who says there still are not enough clothes, or places to wash clothes. The person quoted also says you can sometimes wait for hours for meals. Fort McCoy officials acknowledged problems initially but have said they have made improvement. More than 12-thousand refugees are waiting to be released from the military base to start their new lives somewhere in the United States. – WRN
