(Dodge) Authorities responded to a multi-vehicle accident Sunday. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 7:05pm to a call on USHWY 151 and County Road C near the Township of Trenton. Initial investigations show that a semi-tractor driven by a 44 year old Arkansas man was traveling east bound on County Rd C. As the semi entered US HWY 151 to head north, it was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by a 75 year old Neenah man. This was followed by another vehicle driven by a 59 year old female. The driver of the semi was not injured, the female driver was transported by EMS for non-life threatening injuries and the 75 year old male driver was pronounced dead on scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner.
(Dodge County) The November general election is Tuesday. There are contested races in the Wisconsin Assembly pitting incumbent Mark Born against write-in candidate Steve Rydzewski, incumbent Republican Will Penterman against Democrat Maureen McCarville, and incumbent Jon Plumer against Theresa Valencia. Scott Fitzgerald is defending his congressional seat against Mike Van Someren. Voters across 11 counties in the Moraine Park Tech College district will see a $55-million dollar referendum. There are referenda in Waupun and Waterloo school districts for operating expenses. There is an advisory referendum in Columbus asking voters about allowing ATV and UTV’s on city streets.
(Juneau) The Dodge County clerk says her office works hard to ensure election integrity. Karen Gibson says there are multiple security measures in place including safeguarding each ballot. Gibson says voters need to register and a photo ID is required in all municipalities before a ballot may be issued to them. She adds anyone who has not already registered or has moved since they last voted will need to fill out a Voter Registration Application. (Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam’s proposed borrowing next year totals $4.6-million dollars. The 2023 Capital Improvements Plan would direct $2-million dollars to streets, including the reconstruction of Frances Lane and Curie Street. A half-million dollars would be set aside starting next year for a $2-million-dollar fire truck. Next year’s borrowing plan also includes $1.2-million for a new roof at the library. The DPW is seeking $426-thousand for new vehicles. The Parks Department is asking for $500-thousand dollars for phase two of Rotary Park. Budget discussions resume Monday.
(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce has launched a new website called visitbeaverdam.com. Chamber Director Tracy Propst says the site was a project from the Tourism Commission, and it features micro-influencers who share their own personal experiences and stories of visiting the city.
(Lebanon) A church in Lebanon will host a food pantry distribution event Tuesday. The monthly Ruby’s Pantry Food Distribution will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. The cost is $25 per share and those going can purchase more than one. Organizers say each share may not be identical but will contain at least $100 to $150 worth of groceries. The event gets underway at 3:30pm and continues to 6pm or until all 288 shares are gone. To enter, drive through the fire station parking lot directly from Highway R.
