(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department yesterday (Monday) released details surrounding a fire at a storage unit that occurred last Friday. The agency received a report of a fire at 1805 North Center Street around 9:18pm. First arriving units observed flames in the northeast corner of the building. Crews quickly deployed multiple hose lines and began extinguishing the blaze while paramedics located and attended to a patient. The fire was under control around 9:45pm and one male civilian was treated for minor burns at the local hospital. The blaze is under investigation.
(Watertown) The Watertown Police Department is warning local residents about an uptick in thefts from unlocked vehicles. Officials with the agency encourage everyone to lock their car doors as a deterrent. They say a locked vehicle is a great countermeasure to preventing valuables from being taken. (Fond du Lac) Authorities have leads on a driver who led law enforcement on two pursuits in Fond du Lac, Winnebago, and Green Lake counties Sunday. A Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputy tried to pull the driver overon Interstate 41 northbound near Lone Elm Road at 10:35am. The pursuit was ultimately terminated at 12-and-a-half miles. (Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation recently completed a record-breaking grant cycle. Officials with the Foundation say this fall 2024 grant cycle saw unprecedented numbers, including the highest amount of grant applications, the most grant dollars requested, and a record-breaking amount of grant awards and values. Approximately $55-thousand-dollars will be distributed to 46 nonprofit agencies throughout Dodge County, which officials note will enable them to continue their vital work across various sectors.
(Wisconsin) AAA expects record-setting travel numbers for Thanksgiving. Nearly 1.6 million Wisconsinites are forecast to travel 50 miles or more for the holiday. That is an all-time high for Thanksgiving and over 35,000 more travelers or 2.3-percent more than last year. National travel numbers are also expected to set new records with an estimated 79.9 million travelers.
