(Beaver Dam) A video documenting veterans from across the state who journeyed to monuments dedicated in their honor in Washington DC is now available to watch on DailyDodge.com. In September, 95.3 WBEV’s Justin “the Ninja” Wylesky joined the Badger Honor Flight to document the excursion. A total of 89 veterans toured the Marine Corps Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Korean War/Vietnam Veterans/Lincoln Memorials, the World War II Memorial, the FDR Memorial, and the Air Force Memorial overlooking the Pentagon. (Beaver Dam) Leaders of Beaver Dam’s VFW Post 1163 are looking to reform the auxiliary. The auxiliary closed in 2020 due to a lack of participation. Veterans and Family Support Department of Wisconsin Chairwoman Helen Stearns says there is no timeline, but to gauge interest by putting the information out there to the public. Post Commander of VFW Post 1163 Ty Letto says that for the auxiliary to restart, they need 20 people to sign up. More information can be found at DailyDodge.com.

(Columbus) The Columbus City Council adopted the 2024 city budget at their meeting on Tuesday. The budget includes expenditures of $4.69-million-dollars, [a] $198,259-dollar increase from the previous year. The tax levy is $3.78-million-dollars, a $129,115-dollar increase from the previous year, with a mill rate of $7.96 per $1000-dollars of assessed value.

(Dekorra) Columbia County authorities took a significant amount of illegal drugs off the street following a traffic stop in the town of Dekorra Tuesday. According to law enforcement, 42-year-old Ernest McCurty and 47-year-old Jeremy Stanton were arrested after 400 grams of fentanyl and over $100,000 in cash was found in their vehicle. Both made their initial appearances in court Thursday but investigators say additional charges are expected.

(Fond du Lac) A Fond du Lac man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a fatal robbery. Julius Freeman was found guilty by a Fond du Lac County jury in July on felony charges of First-Degree Intentional Homicide and Armed Robbery As a Party to a Crime. The 24-year-old does have the possibility of being released on extended supervision after 35 years. Fond du Lac police responded to the 300 block of 8th Street in October of 2021 and found 26-year-old Benzel Rose dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities say 29-year-old Eric Perry and Freeman were picked up on probation warrants shortly after and have been incarcerated since.
