(Beaver Dam) Moraine Park Technical College recently awarded its annual Business and Industry Partner Awards. The College’s Economic and Workforce Development recognizes five partnership awards each year. The Employer of the Year award went to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. The Excellence in Partnership award winner was J.F. Ahern Company. The New Partner of the Year award went to the city of Horicon. The West Bend School District received the Innovation Award. The Workforce Development Champion Award was given to Colleen Lunow, director of Human Resources for Tank Technology. MPTC’s Dean of Economic Workforce and Development JoAnn Hall says economic development is a community effort and it talks all people and all parties coming to the table to make it happen. (Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam VFW Post 1163 recently presented awards for its annual Patriot’s Pen Contest. Nathan Smith took first place, Elijah Herreman earned second place and Caroline Brahm came in third place. This year’s essay question was “How Are You Inspired by America?”. (Fond du Lac) Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy Blaine Evans and K9 Iro, along with the team who worked to save Iro’s life after a shooting incident, received awards from the Wisconsin Professional Police Association Saturday evening. Deputy Evans and Iro received the Award for Valor, Deputy Michael Vis and Fond du Lac Police Officer Charles Beckford received the Meritorious Award. The BluePearl Pet Hospital team consisting of Dr. Ryan Demianiuk , Dr. Bruce VanEnkevort, Dr. Stephanie Brock, and Certified Vet Tech Allison Riedl received the Citizen Award. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says it was an evening to honor law enforcement officers from across the state for heroic and lifesaving actions over the past year. He adds it was also a great opportunity for Iro’s medical team to spend some time with deputies and Iro to celebrate his recovery.
(Oshkosh) The Royal Canadian Air Force’s centennial, renowned aerospace designer Burt Rutan, and the future of spaceflight are all part of the schedule this July as EAA AirVenture 2024 hosts its memorable evening programs at Theater in the Woods. EAA Vice President of communities and member programs Rick Larsen says, “This year’s programming again creates ‘only at Oshkosh’ moments with those involved in aviation history, cutting-edge technology, or the future of flight.” Programs are scheduled each evening at Theater in the Woods. The 71st Experimental Aircraft Association’s fly-in convention is July 22nd through the 28th at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.
