(Beaver Dam) The deadline is approaching for Beaver Dam residents who are interested in serving as Mayor to file paperwork for the special November 5th election. Potential candidates need to collect between 200 and 400 signatures in support to get on the ballot and they need to be returned by Monday, June 3rd at 5pm. The winner of the November election would serve the remainder of Becky Glewen’s term, who is now the administrator of Trempealeau (Tremp-uh-low) County. As of Wednesday, the only registered candidate for Mayor was Alderperson Jack Yuds.
(Fond du Lac) A $500,000 bond has been set for a 26-year-old Waupun man in a suspected over-dose death last Friday night. 26-year-old Shawn Kimpel was found dead at West Franklin Street in Waupun. An autopsy by the Fond du Lac County Medical examiner’s office found the cause of death to be from fentanyl toxicity. After an investigation Dylan Mayne was identified as the suspect in Kimple’s death. He was arrested and taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail. He made his initial court appearance Tuesday on a charge of first-degree reckless homicide- delivery of drugs. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 27th.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s office has taken into custody a suspect in a fatal accident that occurred in the town Lewiston Sunday night. Kevin Nevelin allegedly left the scene of an accident after a crash, leaving a 21-year-old Portage woman, behind trapped in the vehicle, where she died. Nevelin faces charges including hit and run involving death and knowingly operating while revoked causing death. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department used social media to locate the suspect and he was taken in custody on Wednesday night.
(Juneau) Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmitt says that his deputies worked hard on Tuesday night to make sure that county roads were cleared of 100s of downed trees. Schmitt added that Beaver Dam PD and their Auxiliary also spent a lot of time clearing roads. He also thanked his extra dispatchers that came in to take the increased volume of calls. Schmitt was a guest on the 95.3 WBEV Morning Show on Wednesday.
(Washington County) The Washington County Fair Park and Conference Center announced that Foghat and Molly Hatchet will serve as the Friday headliners for the Washington County Fair.
