WE Raising Rates Again
3/25/10 – Wisconsin’s largest electric utility is raising its rates for the second time this year. We Energies says its fuel costs for 2010 will be at least two-percent higher than what the state Public Service Commission had predicted last November. So today, the P-S-C approved an increase of a-dollar-88-a-month for the average residential customer. It raises the average monthly bill to just over 99-dollars. Commissioners said the utility would have to refund the increase, with interest, if the firm collects more than its final fuel expenses. For now, We Energies will get an extra 48-million dollars. The utility raised its rates by about seven-percent in January to cover its costs for new power plants. Another increase is scheduled for 2011. We Energies is based in Milwaukee. It provides electricity to much of eastern Wisconsin, including the southern half of Dodge County.
Miracle Mile has Another Winner
3/25/10 – Another day, another big lottery winner on Fond du Lac’s Miracle Mile. A ticket sold at Ma and Pa’s on South Main Street won a million dollars last night by matching all five regular numbers with the Power Play option. The multiplier was three, but anyone who wins Powerball’s second prize automatically gets it kicked up to a million-dollars with the Power Play. Nobody matched all the numbers in last night’s Powerball drawing, so the top prize goes up to 60-million-dollars for Saturday.
