(Columbus) The Columbus City Council discussed an ordinance that covers a citizen’s rights to address the council at a recent meeting. Alderman Ian Gray still feels that off topic items are meant for the committee of the whole because council meetings are meant for conducting business. After some further discussion, the ordinance was moved to the next common council meeting for a vote with off topic items only being addressed in the committee of the whole and an intolerance for abusing language in both meetings.  

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam street will be closed to traffic beginning Monday. City officials say the 400 and 500 blocks of South Center Street will be shut down next Monday and Tuesday. A detour will direct northbound traffic from South Center Street to West South Street, to First Street, then to West Mill Street, and back to South Center. Southbound traffic will follow the detour from West Mill Street to First Street, to West South Street, and then back into South Center.

(Beaver Dam) An effort to upgrade Beaver Dam’s pickleball courts recently received a donation. The Women’s Affiliate of Beaver Dam gave a $5,000 check towards construction of the new courts. The project is a joint effort of the city of Beaver Dam, a dedicated group of local volunteers, and the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation to upgrade the current Athletic Field Park pickleball courts into a top-notch outdoor regional pickleball facility.

(Beaver Dam) The Dodge County Center For The Arts is hosting the Art Without A Brush exhibit beginning this weekend. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the art of oil pastel work and how to create landscape visuals, among others. The opening reception is tomorrow (Saturday, March 23rd) from 1pm until 3pm, and admission is free. The exhibit runs until April 28th.

(Waupun) Authorities in Waupun are asking the public’s help in locating two suspects involved in a theft of a local convenience store. Law enforcement say on March 8th two women arrived on foot and entered the Kwik Trip located at 800 West Main Street. Both suspects were carrying large purses and proceeded to place merchandise in their bags as they walked out of the store. One of the ladies paid for some of the items she had collected, while the other woman fled without paying. Waupun police say both woman were last observed walking eastbound from Kwik Trip.

(Hustisford) An Oconomowoc man was found guilty by a Dodge County jury this week of having a controlled substance in his system when he significantly injured a passenger in a motor vehicle accident. Ryan Rhadans was the driver during the 2016 crash that left his passenger paralyzed. Blood samples that were later tested found THC in the 42-year-old’s system. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 28th.
