(Fond du Lac County) An attempted routine traffic stop ended with the seizure of drugs and multiple charges Tuesday in Fond du Lac County. A Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with multiple equipment violations on Highway 26 near Cattaraugus Rd in the town of Waupun. The vehicle accelerated away leading to a pursuit that lasted 24.3 miles through the village of Rosendale, north past Interstate 41 before the vehicle became disabled in a ditch. The 26 year old Oshkosh man was taken into police custody without incident with the help of K9 Rip, who also alerted on the vehicle. A search turned up nearly a pound of methamphetamine, 10 grams of cocaine, and a large sum of cash. The suspect is being charged with possession of methamphetamine and cocaine with the intent to distribute, as well as multiple traffic related violations.

(Juneau) The Dodge County Board heard an update Tuesday on efforts to fill key departmental openings. The most notable is the vacant finance director position. County Administrator Cameron Clapper says they have two leads right now and hope to have a positive update for the board in the next month or two. The post has not been filled since last March following the resignation of David Ehlinger.

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam residents can begin to leave brush at the streets edge beginning April 3rd. Neatly piled, loose tree limbs and shrubbery cuttings should be left out by 7am on the first waste collection day of the month. Yard waste can also be dropped off at the DPW garage on South Center Street, which after April 1st will also be open on Saturday’s. Brush pick-up continues once a month through the first collection day in November.

(Juneau) A bench warrant was issued Tuesday for a Horicon man accused of failing to return to the Dodge County Jail from a medical appointment. Andrew Zirbel is facing a felony count of Escape – Criminal Arrest. A plea and sentencing hearing was scheduled for Monday but Zirbel did not show, according to court records.

(Winnebago County) Winnebago County prosecutors have charged an Omro man for the murder of an Eldorado (el-doe-ray-doe) woman. Cash bond was set at $1-million-dollars for Joseph Olvera. The 22-year-old is facing felony charges of First-Degree Intentional Homicide and First-Degree Reckless Endangering Safety. According to the criminal complaint, Olvera is suspected of strangling and killing his girlfriend Johanna Schultz in his apartment in the 500 block of Spruce Street on March 11th.

(Watertown) One person is dead following a police pursuit and crash in Jefferson County. The sheriff’s office says a deputy saw a speeding vehicle entering Watertown Monday afternoon. After the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off and headed to Ixonia. The sheriff’s office reports the driver losing control on Highway 16 while trying to pass other cars and leaving the road. Two people in the vehicle were hospitalized with serious injuries, while a third was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The Wisconsin State Patrol is handling an investigation of the incident. – WRN

(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff says a mailing from the Badger State Sheriff’s Association is legitimate. Schmidt says the “Honorary Membership” mailing seeks support of citizens for sheriffs statewide. He says the Badger State Sheriff’s Association, which he is president of, represents every sheriff of all 72 Wisconsin counties. Schmidt adds that the mailings’ purpose is to give citizens the opportunity to show support for the office of sheriff as they work to protect their constitutional rights.
