(Juneau) Wednesday night’s storm front swept along the Highway 151 corridor, triggering two tornado warnings in Dodge County between 6:45pm and 7:30pm. Emergency Management officials say a majority of the issues in the county were related to the large amounts of rain sustained in a short amount of time. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office had scattered reports of downed trees and powerlines. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office fielded 68 reports of downed trees and powerlines as well as some homes that were damaged.
(Beaver Dam) Both Alliant Energy and We Energies reported multiple outages throughout the area due to last (Wednesday) night’s storm. There were outages in Beaver Dam, Fox Lake, near Waupun, in the town of Chester, Juneau, and Horicon. We Energies say just over 25-hundred customers were without power in Dodge County. A majority of those outages were in the city of Watertown with around 13-hundred reported. Iron Ridge had 328 outages.
(Beaver Dam) Local law enforcement is asking for help in solving a nearly 20 year old missing persons case from Beaver Dam. Jacqueline Kay Mojzis of Beaver Dam went missing on December 20th of 2003. She was staying at a women’s shelter in the city but then left. Mojzis is white with brown hair and green eyes, is five-foot-one to five-foot-five and weighs approximately 120 to 160 pounds. (Portage) Authorities in Columbia County have seen a recent increase in the number of illegal drugs throughout the area. Sheriff’s officials say the amount of cocaine recovered through investigations and traffic stops is significant. They add that methamphetamine and illicit fentanyl pills continue to be prevalent in the county. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office asks residents to contact their Crimestoppers tip line if they are aware of any criminal or drug activity.
(Beaver Dam) Over one thousand boxes of breakfast cereal found its way to four area food banks and two local shelters thanks to the recent efforts of food production company Conagra and the United Way of Dodge County. The Breakfast of Champions food drive was part of the company’s month of service project, which sees the facility and its employees seek out ways to give back to the community in impactful ways. United Way of Dodge County Director Harper Mruk praised the corporation for their continued dedication to Beaver Dam and the surrounding area.
(Beaver Dam) A number of streets in Beaver Dam will be chip sealed next week. The maintenance work will begin on Monday and be completed by Thursday. Fourteen roads will be chip sealed in all including South Center Street, North Crystal Lake Road, Industrial Drive East, and North Spring Street. Temporary no parking signs will be placed near the impacted streets. The work schedule is weather dependent.
