(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam yard waste drop-site is now open with a new entrance. Officials with the city’s Department of Public Works say, as of Friday, the site will be open Monday through Friday from 7am to 7pm. Saturday hours will remain the same, from 8am to noon through November 23rd. The entrance to the site, which had been located on South Center Street, will now be at 205 West South Street – the former parks building entrance.
(Beaver Dam) The public is invited to take part in a community event supporting a Beaver Dam non-profit. PAVE, which stands for Protect; Advocate; Validate; and Educate, works to empower those affected by violence. The organization is hosting a painting workshop with world-renowned artist Stephen Bennett. Those who participate, will be able to paint a tile for a community mosaic mural that will hang in the PAVE building for several decades. The paining workshop will be held on August 8th from 3pm to 7pm at 111 East Burnett Street in Beaver Dam. More information is at DailyDodge.com.
(Wisconsin) Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection are taking time this month to remind the public about scams that prey on active military service members, veterans, retirees, and their families. In 2023, the Federal Trade Commission received over 192,000 reports from military consumers. One-third of those reports indicated losing money to fraud. Total losses were $477 million. Top fraud categories included imposter scams, online shopping and negative reviews, investment related scams, and identity theft.
(Clyman) The Cramer Cancer Foundation is hosting its annual Shooting for a Cure Event in Clyman next weekend. The bags tournament is at Clyman Village Park and the trap shoot as at the Clyman Sportsman Club. The cost is $25 per shooter and $40 per bags team. All proceeds raised will go towards the UW Carbone Cancer Center, Randy Roberts Memorial Scholarship Fund, and two local families battling cancer. Shooting for a Cure is next Saturday (August 3rd) starting at 9am.
(Wisconsin) Ahead of the Wisconsin Fall Primary, August 13, 2024, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reminds U.S. citizens how to obtain identification, free of charge, that is valid for voting.
