(Columbia County) Columbia County sheriff’s deputies were involved in a shooting over the weekend. Just before 6pm Saturday, the Columbia County agency received an attempt to locate from Adams County authorities for an intoxicated man who was armed and suicidal. The individual, reportedly identified as Richard O’Hara of Friendship, fled deputies when located a short time later. His vehicle was disabled by a tire deflation device and the 62-year-old allegedly opened fire at deputies. Three sheriff’s deputies returned fire. No one was struck and O’Hara was taken into custody following negotiations. He is facing numerous charges. 

(Watertown) A diesel heater is the cause of a structure fire in Watertown on Friday. The Watertown Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on North Warren Street around 9:57am. Roughly an hour after the call came in, overhaul operations were completed, and no active fire was present. American Red Cross and Watertown’s local Volunteer Emergency Response Team responded to assist the homeowner. The diesel heater was located inside the garage. 

(Beaver Dam) The state of Wisconsin has revoked the dealer license for nine Beaver Dam area wholesalers. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles issued the order against the dealers, all co-located at 1645 North Spring Street, for failing to follow administrative requirements.

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Common Council is meeting tonight (Monday night). There are several resolutions on file, including the approval of a services contract with Five Bugles Design for a fire station needs analysis. The meeting at city hall, which is located at 205 South Lincoln Avenue, will begin at 7:30pm.     

(Beaver Dam) On a recent WBEV Community Comment, State Representative Mark Born of Beaver Dam discussed some of the accomplishments during the last legislative session. The first accomplishment Born discussed was a new revenue sharing formula. The new formula will now focus on rural areas rather than big cities. The second accomplishment was the largest increase in the state school voucher program. 

(Beaver Dam) The Miss Wisconsin winner from Beaver Dam was a semi-finalist during last (Sunday) night’s Miss America competition. Mandi Genord finished in the top 11 for the crown. Genord, who recently graduated from the University of Alabama, also served as Miss Wisconsin’s Teen in 2018.
