(Juneau) There is just a few days left to purchase trees and shrubs thru the Dodge County Land and Water Conservation Department’s annual tree and shrub sale. Several species of trees and shrubs are available for sale including: White Oak, Red Oak, Sugar Maple, Colorado Blue Spruce, White Cedar, River Burch, Elderberry, American Plum, Serviceberry, and Hazelnut. (Dodge County) Dodge County vehicle sales last year were down when compared to 2021. According to statistics released by the Waterloo-based industry tracking firm Reg-Trak, Dodge County had nearly 28-hundred vehicle sales in 2022, down 20-percent from the previous year. Car sales decreased 29-percent with 263 while truck sales dropped 19-percent to just over 25-hundred.
(Beaver Dam) The deadline to apply for the Dairy Margin Coverage program is this Tuesday (January 31st). Dairy Margin Coverage is a voluntary risk management program available to dairy producers. The program helps producers manage risks associated with changing milk and feed prices. The protection program uses the All-Milk less a ration cost to produce 100 pounds of milk. Dairy Margin ensures a producer has selected a margin amount. Once a margin is selected, the producer is given a price for milk and feed.
(Fond du Lac) A local health center has received an award. SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac recently received an international quality award for its HeartFlow program. The award signifies that the health center was in the top 18-percent of global health centers, providing patients with a better pathway for identifying and understanding their heart health through coronary CT and HeartFlow analysis. SSM Greater Health Fond du Lac says they are proud of this award and will remain committed to providing the highest level quality of cardiac imaging. The award is based on metrics assessing the quality and adoption of a medical center’s cardiovascular imaging program.
(Fond du Lac) Envision Greater Fond du Lac has renamed its Lifetime Achievement Award after the late Allen J. Buechel. Buechel was with the Fond du Lac County Board for 17 years and served as County Executive for 29 years until his death last March. Officials with the organization say their Board of Directors felt very strongly about renaming the award after Buechel who was instrumental in the creation of Envision and also the first Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation.
(Waupun) Waupun Police are warning residents to stay off the Harris Mill Pond after an officer fell through the thin ice. That officer was taken to Waupun Memorial Hospital as a precaution but is doing well according to department officials. It happened Wednesday night. The officer was on patrol and saw two kids taking a picnic table out onto the ice. The officer was trying to get the table off of the pond when he fell through. Using a rope, a second officer was able to get that officer out. Colder temperatures are forecasted through next Thursday but Waupun Police say not to be fooled by that there are many open water areas on the pond and the ice is thin.
