(Columbia) A Beaver Dam man was booked into the Columbia County Jail Tuesday after a 12 mile pursuit reaching speeds up to 100mph. At 10:08pm, Columbus officers were dispatched to an area business on reports of a male subject in the lot exhibiting strange behaviors and carrying a long gun. The subject fled the scene upon the arrival of Columbus officers, assisted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department. Pursuit traveled west out of Columbus on STH 60 during which a firearm was observed to be thrown from the vehicle. The pursuit ended near STH 60 and STH 51 in the Township of Leeds. The subject was identified as Andy J. Gerow, 36, who was booked into the Columbia County jail on charges of disorderly conduct while armed, eluding an officer, and possession of THC 2nd offense. The discarded firearm was recovered and identified as an AR15 style rifle, with a round in the chamber and 2 loaded magazines.
(Juneau) Dodge County may offer their medical examiner services to Green Lake County. Leaders in Green Lake County are considering abolishing the office of coroner and establishing a medical examiner officer in its place. They have reached out to Dodge County about the possibility of providing services. If the inter-governmental agreement is approved the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office will oversee all death investigations, among other tasks. However, details of the agreement are still being hammered out and could change. Board supervisors in both counties would need to act on the matter by their March meetings.
(Juneau) Voters in the Towns of Hubbard and Hustisford will be heading to another polling place for next Tuesday’s primary election. Dodge County Clerk Karen Gibson says those voting for the Hartford Union School Board primary must go to the Rubicon Town Hall. Those voting for the two Dodge County Board primaries should be aware of the district boundary changes following the recent census. (Hartford) A Washington County man was pardoned by the governor. Tony Evers recently announced another 25 pardons, bringing the total number of granted pardons to 416 since 2019. Among the 25 pardons was Joseph Anny, who currently lives in Hartford. When Anny was 26-years-old, he was found in possession of a controlled substance. Years later, Anny sold a firearm to an outdoors retail company when he was not supposed to be in possession of it.
(Beaver Dam) A two-day jury trial was scheduled Tuesday for a Beaver Dam man charged with having inappropriate contact with a minor. Kyle Schwantes is facing a felony count of Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. According to the criminal complaint, the 13-year-old victim said that Schwantes had touched her inappropriately while at his residence last March. If convicted, the 35-year-old faces 40 years in prison. The trial is scheduled to begin on June 1st.
(Beaver Dam) Free COVID testing will continue to be offered for Dodge County residents. The testing site, located at 1701 North Spring Street in Beaver Dam, had been staffed by the Wisconsin National Guard for months but they now have been reassigned with today being the last day of operation. Curative Labs, the county’s COVID testing vendor, will now be operating the clinic starting Saturday the 12th. The site will be open Mondays and Tuesdays between 8am and 4pm, Wednesdays between noon and 6pm, and Saturdays between 10am and 4pm. More information is at DailyDodge.com.
(Wisconsin) Wisconsin’s top consumer complaint for 2021 is a familiar one. Officials with the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection say there were more than 27-hundred complaints concerning telemarketing last year. They say your safest course of action is to not respond to unsolicited calls, texts, emails, or social media posts. DATCP also received more than 16-hundred Landlord-Tenant complaints and 15-hundred identity theft complaints. – WRN
