(Horicon) A Horicon teen is facing charges after a pursuit with a law enforcement ended with a crash in Beaver Dam. Sheriff’s deputies received a report around 4:30pm yesterday (Wednesday) that there was an erratic driver in Horicon and on Highway 33. A sheriff’s office deputy located the vehicle on 33 just outside of Beaver Dam and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, reportedly identified as Devon Hambly, immediately accelerated away. The 18-year-old ultimately lost control and crashed into several parked cars in the parking lot of McDonald’s in Beaver Dam. Hambly is facing numerous charges including felony Fleeing.
(Beaver Dam) State Representative Mark Born of Beaver Dam says the governor’s budget is bloated and includes reckless spending. The governor’s budget proposal includes adding approximately $4-billion-dollars for K-through-12 and higher education and another $2-billion-dollars in direct tax cuts to help residents pay for childcare and other needs. (Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation is still taking applications for the first of its two annual grant cycles. Foundation President Tom Heffron says Dodge County nonprofits seeking funding for impactful work within the community are encouraged to apply. Heffron says nonprofits can request funding between $500 and $2,500. The application window is open through March 3rd.
(Beaver Dam) The Dodge County Fair Association has announced one of its main stage acts for this year’s event. The country music group Diamond Rio will be performing at the 2025 fair on Thursday, August 14th. The free concert will begin at 8pm on the Moraine Park Technical College Main Stage. Two additional concerts will be announced for Friday and Saturday evenings. The 2025 Dodge County Fair runs from August 13th through the 17th.
(Beaver Dam) Wayland Academy invites the community to attend their 2025 Culture Convention in March. The convention will take place at the Lindsay Gym, which is centrally located on campus, on March 1st from 1pm to 4pm. There will be food, activities, performances, a fashion show, as well as entertainment throughout the day. This event is free and open to the public, with donations being accepted at the door.
