(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam firefighter that was seriously injured when a hovercraft struck an island on Beaver Dam Lake Monday evening is now in stable condition. In a press release from the Beaver Dam Fire Department, the agency said that individual was transported from the scene by Flight for Life to Aurora Summit Hospital in Oconomowoc where he remains hospitalized. Two other firefighters were injured in the training accident. They were treated and released from care yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Unified School District has finalized a partnership agreement to support expanded childcare opportunities throughout the community. The district is teaming up with Community Care to repurpose Wilson Elementary into a host site for childcare. The transition will begin next year as Community Care will offer infant care at Wilson during what will be schoolโ€™s last year of formal operation. Effective in the fall of 2025, students who currently reside in the Wilson boundary will attend Washington Elementary. At that time, the current Wilson space will be operated by Community Care.

(Juneau) There is a primary election in Dodge County next Tuesday, but only a select few will be going to the polls. There is a contested race for the District 31 seat on the county board, which represents Wards 21 through 25 in Beaver Dam. Residents in the city of Mayville will see a mayoral primary and voters in the town of Ashippunโ€™s Ward 3 and town of Rubiconโ€™s Ward 2 will see five names on their ballot for a spot on the school board for the Hartford School District. (Beaver Dam) The Dodge County Fair Association has announced one of its main stage acts for this yearโ€™s event. Country music singer Matt Stell will be performing at the 2024 fair on Friday, August 16th. The free concert will begin at 8pm. Two additional concerts will be announced for Thursday and Saturday evenings. This yearโ€™s Dodge County Fair will run from August 14th to the 18th.

(Beaver Dam) The application deadline for the Beaver Dam Police Departmentโ€™s upcoming Citizenโ€™s Police Academy is tomorrow (Thursday). Lieutenant Jeremiah Johnson says people should not hesitate if they are interested. He adds that applications can be picked up at the department, by emailing him, and applications are also available on social media and the city website.
