(Lodi) A Columbia County sheriff’s K9 assisted in the arrest of a Lodi man accused of fleeing police while under the influence. Chad Stites reportedly fled from police Saturday before crashing his vehicle. K9 Rico was deployed to apprehend the 52-year-old after he reportedly fled on foot. Stites was taken to the Columbia County Jail and is facing felony Fleeing charges, OWI Sixth Offense, Resisting, and misdemeanor Bail Jumping. 

(Beaver Dam) The public is encouraged to take part in a kickoff meeting tonight for the new Beaver Dam Community Action Plan. The Community Action Plan committee is part of the city’s Comprehensive Plan update that will shape the future of Beaver Dam for the next 10 to 20 years. Tonight’s meeting will be held at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre. The evening will start with a social hour from 5pm to 6pm, which is optional. (Waupun) The city of Waupun swore-in a new interim chief this week. Deputy Chief Jeremy Rasch was picked by the city’s Police and Fire Commission to fill the role left vacant when Scott Louden announced that he was resigning. The Police and Fire Commission has also begun the process of finding the news full-time chief. A part of that process will include a public forum with candidates where they will give introductions, talk about their backgrounds, as well as their leadership style. The final phase will see city leaders interview the candidates. The goal is to hold the public forum sometime in January which will be followed by the interviews. 

(Beaver Dam) The Dodge County Shop with Cops program is returning for the 21st year on December 16th. Lieutenant Jeremiah Johnson says 63 officers will be participating from several agencies across Dodge County. He adds that children will get $175 dollars to spend to get quality gifts for their family, the highest amount the program has been able to give to kids. 

(Waupun) The Marsh Haven Nature Center is inviting volunteers and nature lovers alike to learn more about the outdoors rolling into 2024. Marsh Haven is in search of volunteers in the landscaping department when the full facility opens back up in mid-April. Executive Director Matt Rup-Nick said visitors who want to explore the 46-acre landscape in the meantime can walk the property’s trails from 10am to 4pm daily.
