(Columbus) The Columbus City Council recently approved an acceptable use policy for elected officials. The policy requires that the electronic devices be used for city business only and returned to the city following an expired term of an elected official. The devices will be supported by Rhyme and not allow other apps to be downloaded to it. The policy also reminds officials that they are the custodians of their own records.  

(Dodge County) The state’s health department is highlighting expanded care choices coming to members in nine Wisconsin counties, including Dodge County. Starting in January, roughly 8,000 Family Care and Family Care Partnership members in South Central Wisconsin will have more choices in who helps manage their long-term care. In addition to Dodge members in Columbia, Dane, Green Lake, and Jefferson will be able to choose from four manage care organizations. A link to more information is at DailyDodge.com.  

(Waupun) The 35th annual Waupun Truck-n-Show gets underway tomorrow (Friday, August 9th). The two-day event celebrates the industry and features hundreds of truckers from across the country. (Iron Ridge) Residents are invited to attend the Iron Ridge Fire Department’s Picnic starting at 4:30pm this evening and running through Sunday, August 11th.  Live music, fireworks, a fish fry, tournaments, and a parade will fill the weekend at Fireman’s Park in Iron Ridge, including free bussing on Friday and Saturday nights. (Madison) The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is accepting applications now through Sept. 20 for a special firearm deer hunt at Sandhill Wildlife Area. This managed hunt will give hunters a unique opportunity to hunt deer on the 9,150-acre property while helping the DNR meet deer management objectives. The 2-day hunt will occur Nov. 2-3, 2024.
