(Madison) The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and County Deer Advisory Councils are seeking public input to prepare for the 2024 deer season. Each county in the state has a County Deer Advisory Council that meets annually to provide input and recommendations to the DNR on deer management in its county. The online portion of the input concludes today. People that are interested are asked to complete the online public input questionnaire. Members of the public who are interested are also encouraged to participate in the discussion at their local County Deer Advisory Council meeting. Recommendations are based on deer metrics, county deer population objectives, and public feedback. The meetings will occur between April 22 to May 2. (Oshkosh) EAA is looking for additional help this AirVenture as more than 750 temporary positions are available across multiple areas to be part of the World’s greatest aviation celebration. The temporary positions are excellent opportunities for many people including students or retirees, who are seeking a temporary position that does not require a full summer commitment. Positions available include retail associate, security/event support, auto parking cashier, camper registration, and bartender. To apply, retail and auto parking applicants must be at least 14 years old, security at least 16 years old, and 18 years old for all other positions. It is encouraged to apply online before the hiring events, as individuals will have the opportunity to interview onsite. All interviews will be held at the EAA Aviation Museum in Oshkosh. Hiring events are scheduled for Saturday, April 27th from 9am to 1pm, Wednesday May 15th from 4 to 7pm, and Saturday June 8th and 22nd from 9am to 1pm. There will also be an open house June 25th through the 27th from 9am to 5pm.
(Fond du Lac) Moraine Park Technical College in conjunction with the Wisconsin Technical Colleges System board have selected Kreilkamp Trucking as the recipient of the 2024 Futuremaker Partner Award. President S. Mark Tyler and Moraine Park President Bonnie Baerwald on March 19. The award recognizes the unique and dynamic partnerships between Wisconsin technical colleges and their employer partners. The program was created to address the challenging process of obtaining a commercial driver’s license, access to a semi road test, and the cost of attending driving school, with tuition costing $5,000 dollars up front for training. Since the first class in February 2022, 13 have completed the course resulting in supplying the trucking industry with more than 150 additional truck drivers.
(Wisconsin) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to stay alert and give space to Adopt-A-Highway volunteers, who routinely collect trash and recyclables along state highways. In 2023, Wisconsin Adopt-A-Highway groups collected 180 tons of trash and recyclables. Nearly 15,000 volunteers helped collect trash last year, which is a significant increase from 11,000 volunteers the year before, in 2022. Workers are asked to clean up their assigned two-mile state highway segment at least three times per year. County highway crews gather the bagged material for proper disposal.
