New Pig Pens at Dodge County Fairgrounds

After two years of fundraising, countless hours of organization, and a lot of determination from a very strong group of volunteers, the pig barn at the Dodge County Fairgrounds is now full of sparkling, brand-new pig pens.  The new pens are replacing units more than 50 years old and had been used by several generations in the swine project.  Unfortunately, the old pens were unsafe for both the animals and their exhibitors.   Fundraising started back in September of 2016 with the selling the old pens.  Since then a combination of trivia nights, t-shirt sales, and pen sponsorships, the Dodge County Meat Animal Sale Committee raised about $46,000.  This was enough to order and install 92 new pens. Half of which were installed last year just prior to the fair, with the second half completing installation on August 4th of this year.  Visitors to the Dodge County Fair will be able to see the new pens for themselves Aug. 15-19, 2018.
