(Beaver Dam) A local ice skating rink is now enjoying a state-of-the-art lighting system. Last spring, the Beaver Dam Family Center won the $50,000 dollar American Hockey League’s Light Like The Pros promotion. The same professional LED sports lighting system used in the Miami Dolphins Hard Rock Stadium and the Pittsburgh Pirates PNC Park is now installed at the Family Center.
Facility Manager Jim Szopinski says Ephesus Lighting, who sponsored the promotion, finished mounting the 50 LED lights on Wednesday. He says they are really something to see and more impressive than he ever expected. Szopinski also thanked the support from the community for making this happen. He says the lights have a wide-variety of benefits including the addition of color features and saving on energy costs.
The public can check out the new lighting system at this weekend’s showing of Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride presented by the Swan City Ice Skaters. Saturday’s performances will be at 1:30pm and 7pm. A Sunday show is set for 1:30pm. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students and those aged four and under are free. Szopinski says the Family Center is planning an open house to showcase their news lights sometime within the next two months.
