New Face Destined For Fitzgerald’s Assembly District

10/12/11 – Jeff Fitzgerald’s official announcement yesterday that he’ll run for the U.S. Senate next fall means residents in the current 39th State Assembly District will have a new representative for the first time in 12 years. State statutes mandate that candidates can only run for one partisan position at a time leaving Fitzgerald unable to try for a seventh term in the Assembly. So far, only Horicon Mayor Jim Grigg has declared his candidacy to run for the seat as a Democrat. With Fitzgerald’s announcement it’s likely we’ll begin hearing about possible Republican candidates for the seat in the coming weeks.
