New Coach & New Roles For Mayvile Girls Basketball

The Mayville High School girls basketball team has a new coach and a lot of players looking to fill new roles during the 2020-21 season. Veteran coach John Schultz has taken the reigns of the program.  Schultz has coached both boys and girls in the Mayville community for nearly 20 years.  He has spent the last eight seasons working as the head JV coach for the boys program.  He has also coached numerous youth teams in the area.

The Cardinals graduated four of their top five scorers from last year’s squad that finished 5th in the Flyway Conference standings.  Senor Makayla Konrad is the top returning scorer from last season when she averaged 11ppg.  This season Konrad is at 7ppg through three games.  Junior Reannah Zimmer is leading the team in scoring (11ppg) & rebounding (7rpg).  Senior Megan Schellpfeffer is scoring 9 points per contest.   Also contributing this season are seniors; Jenna Pasbring (6ppg), Morgan Clark (5ppg), Avery Thrane (1ppg).  Juniors; Aliayh Huston (6ppg), Emma Bingen, and Josei Boelter are also seeing time on the floor as is freshman Hannah Wolf.

“We’ve just got to keep getting better. A lot of these players have new roles in our system this year. Expanded roles from what they have had in the past.” First year head coach John Schultz told  “So how successful they are there will show how successful we end up as a team.” picked the Cardinals 6th in their preseason conference preview.
