2/21/17 – The Beaver Dam Operations Committee last night received an update on plans for a new dog park. The facility is planned in the Patrick Parker Conley Park — which is bordered by Beichl Avenue, Fletcher Road, Burnett Street and Highway 151 – and would be just across the pond from the planned skateboarding park. Parks Supervisor John Neumann says he did a lot of research of neighboring dog parks, both private and municipal, in putting the plans together for the 57-thousand square-foot, enclosure. Neumann estimates the cost of the park will be $19-thousand dollars which city leaders budgeted for this year. An enclosure for small dogs was scrapped to save money. There is no word yet on whether a fee will be charged to use the park. That question will be brought back before the Operations Committee at a future meeting when the rules for the park will be approved. If all goes according to plan, ground will be broken after the thaw and the first dog could be walked by mid-summer.
