Beaver Dam sophomore McKenna Nelson was medalist at the Portage Invite shooting a one under 70 on Wednesday. She started her round at +4 through 5 holes but then played the final 13 in 5 under.
“McKenna stayed consistent to her plan and patient. The nice thing about playing 18 as opposed to 9 is that you have time to make that up which she did. Jennifer Bennett shot a 106. Freshman Ellie Klug a 109 in her first varsity tournament. Lillianne Fister 118 and Avery Duax is her first varsity meet as well. Jennifer has been solid her whole career. She has done whatever we have asked and given her best. We are really excited for Ellie. She just has the ability to be good at golf. She is athletic and has the right demeanor for golf. She stays in the moment and keeps things at an even keel. Lillianne has been a solid varsity player for us. She came to golf her junior year and has had a good 2 years in our program. We are glad to get Avery in our program this year. Being a sophomore, we see the ability for her to keep on improving this year and the next 2.” – Beaver Dam girls golf coach Tim Chase
The team travels to Watertown on Thursday for a make up to the Watertown Invite.
