Nehls Warning Of Phone Scam

9/10/12 – Dodge County Sheriffs Todd Nehls is reminding the public to be cautious when receiving unsolicited phone calls. That’s after another local resident falls victim to a scam targeting senior citizens. A total of $3500 was taken in two separate calls. The con is increasingly familiar; the victim receives a call from someone claiming to be a grandchild who is in trouble. In this most recent case, the caller said the woman’s granddaughter was with two guys who were arrested with drugs, and money is needed for bail and an attorney. Nehls says you should ask to speak directly with the family member in trouble and ask questions only they would know. Also, ask for a phone number and call your family to verify the situation.
