(NEENAH) Neenah Foundry will pay $200,000 to settle allegations it violated air pollution rules at two Winnebago County plants, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
The settlement, announced Monday, resolves a civil enforcement case tied to the companyโs air permits and state and federal regulations.
State officials say the case centers on how the company operated and monitored equipment designed to limit emissions. The complaint lists 18 alleged violations, including problems maintaining proper pressure and temperature levels, gaps in recordkeeping, and failures to report issues to state regulators.
Attorney General Josh Kaul said the system depends on companies following permit rules to protect clean air, and that violations require accountability.
According to the state, some of the alleged violations involve failing to keep pollution control systems running within required ranges. Others point to missing records, late paperwork, and not reporting when the plants fell out of compliance.
Under the agreement, the company will pay $200,000 in forfeitures, surcharges, and court costs. A Winnebago County judge signed off on the settlement May 7.
The Department of Justice worked with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on the case.
