10/9/17 – A rare October tornado has been confirmed on the east side of Madison. The same system also triggered a Tornado Warning in Columbia and Dodge counties early Saturday evening. The National Weather Service says an “E-F” Zero twister with winds up to 80 miles-an-hour tore a facade off a convenience store and damaged the roof of a car wash — and it damaged a number of houses and garages while taking down power lines. Officials blame wind shear and rotating showers for the tornado. The state climatology office says only one-point-five-percent of Wisconsin tornadoes occur in October — while 30-percent take place in June.
