(Beaver Dam) The MUTED or Musicians United To End Displacement Festival is Saturday at Swan Park in Beaver Dam. The fundraiser aims to raise money and awareness for those who find themselves without a place to call home. Currently, New Beginnings operates a family and women’s shelter, while also finding accommodations for homeless and displaced men. During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment, Event Organizer Cassandra Schmidt said there will be plenty of music acts performing at the event, as well as something new this year, a bean-bag toss tournament.
Aside from the music and bags tourney there will be games for kids, food, a disc throw, bounce house, and dunk tank at the fundraiser. Nancy Welch, a founding member of the event says they have several individuals who have already volunteered to be dunked. Those volunteers include Ken Thomas from the Daily Citizen, who has participated in prior years has again volunteered to be dunked for a good cause. Other featured dunkees are Beaver Dam radio’s own Thomas Rehfeldt and Ninja. Muted 2021 will run from noon to 9pm Saturday at Swan City Park in Beaver Dam. The event is free and open to the public.
