Murder Suspect Seeks New Counsel

2/16/17 – A Fox Lake Man accused of murdering his girlfriend is seeking new counsel. Laverne Ware Jr. had an arraignment hearing postponed yesterday after the defense motioned to have his original $200-thousand-dollar cash bond returned to help in his search for a new attorney. Ware was free for several weeks before formal murder charges were filed and his bond was reset at $2.5-million dollars. Judge Steven Bauer says the court will work on returning the cash bond but issues were raised on the process. The original bond came from Ware’s bank account, which is now frozen, but was posted by an undisclosed woman from Reeseville. Bauer says that when bond is returned it is usually to the individual who posted it, but said an effort would be made to get the money to Ware as soon as possible. The 36-year-old Ware also questioned whether the money spent on his GPS monitoring would be returned; the court said it would have to look into the matter further. On December 4, the 27-year-old girlfriend of Ware, Sesalie Dixon, was found in the cab of Ware’s pick-up truck inside a garage with a gunshot wound to the head. Two others are charged with Aiding a Felon in connection with Dixon’s death, Ware’s mother Marjorie Jones and Jones’ boyfriend Vernon.  An arraignment hearing for Ware is now rescheduled for March 15.
