(Beaver Dam) A comprehensive credit transfer agreement will allow Moraine Park Technical College students to easily transfer credits to one of the state’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities. The agreement was recently signed by the Wisconsin Technical College System and the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges Universities.
Both organizations negotiated “course equivalencies” that provide value to transfer students by reducing or eliminating the need to spend extra time and money retaking courses. Under the agreement, specified technical college credits will count toward requirements for a bachelor’s degree at a private college, provided the student earned a “C” grade or better. More than a dozen popular introductory courses were also included such as chemistry, psychology and speech.
President of the Wisconsin Technical College System Dr. Morna Foy says the state’s private colleges and universities have long been leaders in recognizing the rigor of a technical college education and the value of creating transfer opportunities for students. She says this agreement sets a strong foundation for the future by allowing all of their institutions – in both sectors – to make lifelong learning opportunities even clearer.
Moraine Park Technical College President Bonnie Baerwald says the transfer agreement will broaden the educational horizon for students who wish to continue their education beyond MPTC. All 16 of Wisconsin’s technical colleges are participating in the transfer agreement.
