(Beaver Dam) Moraine Park Technical College recently held their 2021 Manufacturing Skills Academy. A total of 16 students finished the program, five from Computer Numerical Control and 11 from Welding. The college, which has a campus in Beaver Dam, designed the program to combat the skilled worker shortage by offering a variety of boot camp sessions. It also combines a 144-hour paid internship with coursework, including occupational math, print reading, team building, and problem solving. Local students who completed the program include Shayne Thornsen of Randolph, Jennifer Gruender of Beaver Dam, Cody Holter of Beaver Dam, and Jared Landsee of Reeseville. Moraine Park has had over 400 participants in the Welding and CNC boot camp programs since its induction in 2012.
