Motorist In Randolph Ditch Arrested For Felony OWI

(Randolph) A Reedsburg man was arrested on charges of sixth offense Operating While Intoxicated Saturday night in the Town of Randolph. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 9pm of a car in a ditch along County Highway EF, near Highway 33. The reporting party said the driver was slumped over the wheel unresponsive but had a pulse.

Anthony Lee Engle woke up and was able talk with emergency responders. After determining he was medically stable, the 34-year-old was arrested and taken to the Columbia County Jail.  In addition to felony OWI, Engle was charged with Operating After Revocation along with Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device, and held on a probation violation.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Friesland First Responders, Randolph EMS, and the Portage Police Department.

Sheriff Roger Brandner says alcohol-related crashes and arrests are up in numbers for the summer season in Columbia County. He asks the motoring public to drive safely by “following all traffic laws, buckling up, and driving sober so everyone arrives safely at their destination.”
