Motorist Driving Wrong Way On Highway 151 Causing Head-On Crash Succumbs To Injuries

(Trenton) The motorist who was driving the wrong way on Highway 151 causing a head-on collision that killed a Sun Prairie man last week has died. The crash occurred after dispatchers started receiving reports around 10pm on May 26 that a minivan was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says 39-year-old Eric Hagenbart of Beaver Dam, who was operating the minivan and struck the car just north of Redwood Road in Town of Trenton, died as a result of his injuries on Saturday. Hagenbart was initially airlifted from the scene by Flight for Life to Aurora Hospital in Summit with life-threatening injuries. 24-year-old Ryan Schultz was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. Schmidt says the case remains under investigation.
