Motorcyclist Succumbs To Injuries Sustained In Passing Lane Collision

(Town of Dekorra) A motorcyclist has succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident last Thursday in Columbia County. It happened at dusk as two northbound motorcycles were attempting to pass a slow-moving vehicle on Highway 51 in the Town of Dekorra. The lead motorcycle operator looked back suspecting the other motorcyclist was having mechanical issues, not accelerating. That’s when that second motorcycle accelerated rapidly, striking the lead motorcycle in the southbound lanes. The operator of the second motorcycle was flown to UW Hospital, where they died of their injuries Tuesday. The other person was not injured. Neither were wearing a helmet. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. Names are being withheld at this time.
