Former Marshall High School girls basketball player Mia Morel announced via Twitter on Thursday that she’s committed to play NCAA Division 1 basketball at California Baptist. Morel transferred to Madison Memorial last summer and averaged just under 16 points per game before her junior season came to an end because of a knee injury.
Morel was part of Marshall’s back to back WIAA Division Three state championship teams in 2018 and 2019. During both her freshman and sophomore campaigns at Marshall, Morel was named 1st Team All-State in D3 by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. Morel was named the Capitol South Conference Player of the year during her freshman campaign in 2017-18 and shared the same award with teammate Anna Lutz for the 2018-19 season.
California Baptist is located in Riverside, California. They transitioned to Division One from NCAA Division Two in 2018 and compete in the Western Athletic Conference.
