10/14/11 – The head of the state Democratic Party expects to handle recall elections against some G-O-P senators early next year, as well the effort to recall Governor Scott Walker. Mike Tate says there’s a “very real possibility” the Democrats could win the majority in the Senate next spring – even if it’s just for a short time. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Democrats are targeting three Republican senators for recall – former Assembly member Terry Moulton of Chippewa Falls, freshmen Pam Galloway of Wausau and Van Wangaard of Racine. Meanwhile, Senate G-O-P leader Scott Fitzgerald of Juneau said his party would most likely target a couple Democrats – Kathleen Vinehout of Alma and Julie Lassa of Stevens Point. Fitzgerald said there might also be an effort to go after Senate Democratic Leader Mark Miller – but petition drives against both Miller and Lassa failed recall votes this summer against those two. Party leaders expect to start petition drives in November. Most Senate districts would need 15-to-20-thousand valid signatures to force recall votes. Also, about half the Senate and the full Assembly will be up in next November’s scheduled elections.
