(Fond du Lac) Moraine Park Technical College recently held it’s spring Manufacturing Skills Academy Graduation. The college had a total of 21 students graduating, 8 of which within the Computer Numerical Control or CNC machinist boot camp, and 13 from the welding boot camp. The program was designed to combat the skilled worker shortage by offering a variety of boot camp sessions at no cost to the participants, which teach skills that are unique to a particular career pathway. The program also seeks to connect students with area employers. Combining a 144-hour paid internship with coursework, including Occupational Math, Print Reading, Team Building, Problem Solving, and program-specific courses, the program seeks to make graduates a more prospective hire to fill shortages experienced by many companies in the manufacturing field.
Moraine Park will be offering a unique opportunity to test drive and learn about welding and CNC machining careers via a test drive event at their Fond du Lac campus July 16th and 18th as well as at their Beaver Dam campus on July 23rd. Participants attending the test drive will also learn about the colleges Manufacturing Skills Academy boot camp program. Space is limited during these test drive events.
