Moraine Park Preparing Inmates for Life After Prison

(Beaver Dam) Moraine Park Technical College is helping prepare inmates at five Wisconsin prisons for life after their release. MPTC President Bonnie Baerwald says they are providing career and technical education at those institutions that trains potential workers for the work force. She says they have programs at Taycheedah, Fox Lake Correctional, Kettle Moraine, and in Waupun as well. She says employers need workers and they are looking at all avenues to get them. Baerwald also notes that the recidivism rate is lower for inmates who come out of prison with skilled training.
